जटाटवीगलज्जलप्रवाहपावितस्थले
गलेऽवलम्ब्य लम्बितां भुजङ्गतुङ्गमालिकाम्।
डमड्डमड्डमड्डमन्निनादवड्डमर्वयं
चकार चण्डताण्डवं तनोतु नः शिवः शिवम्॥१॥
jaṭāṭavīgalajjalapravāhapāvitasthale
gale’valambya lambitāṃ bhujaṅgatuṅgamālikām।
ḍamaḍḍamaḍḍamaḍḍamanninādavaḍḍamarvayaṃ
cakāra caṇḍatāṇḍavaṃ tanotu naḥ śivaḥ śivam॥1॥
जिन्होंने जटारूपी अटवी (वन) से निकलती हुई गंगाजी के गिरते हुए प्रवाहों से पवित्र किये गये गले में सो की लटकती हुई विशाल माला को धारणकर, डमरू के डम-डम शब्दों से मण्डित प्रचण्ड ताण्डव (नृत्य) किया, वे शिवजी हमारे कल्याण का विस्तार करें॥१॥
With his neck consecrated by the flow of water that flows from his hair,And on his neck a snake, which is hung like a garland,And the Damaru drum that emits the sound “Damat Damat Damat Damat”,Lord Shiva did the auspicious dance of Tandava. May he give prosperity to all of us.
जटाकटाहसम्भ्रमभ्रमन्निलिम्पनिर्झरी
विलोलवीचिवल्लरीविराजमानमूर्द्धनि।
धगद्धगद्धगज्ज्वलल्ललाटपट्टपावके
किशोरचन्द्रशेखरे रतिः प्रतिक्षणं मम॥२॥
jaṭākaṭāhasambhramabhramannilimpanirjharī
vilolavīcivallarīvirājamānamūrddhani।
dhagaddhagaddhagajjvalallalāṭapaṭṭapāvake
kiśoracandraśekhare ratiḥ pratikṣaṇaṃ mama॥2॥
जिनका मस्तक जटारूपी कड़ाह में वेग से घूमती हुई गंगा की चंचल तरंग-लताओं से सुशोभित हो रहा है, ललाटाग्नि धक्-धक् जल रही है, सिर पर बाल चन्द्रमा विराजमान हैं, उन (भगवान् शिव) में मेरा निरन्तर अनुराग हो॥२॥
I have a deep interest in ShivaWhose head is glorified by the rows of moving waves of the celestial Ganga river,Which stir in the deep well of his hair in tangled locks.Who has the brilliant fire burning on the surface of his forehead,And who has the crescent moon as a jewel on his head.
धराधरेन्द्रनन्दिनीविलासबन्धुबन्धुर
स्फुरद्दिगन्तसन्ततिप्रमोदमानमानसे।
कृपाकटाक्षधोरणीनिरुद्धदुर्धरापदि
क्वचिद्दिगम्बरे मनो विनोदमेतु वस्तुनि॥३॥
dharādharendranandinīvilāsabandhubandhura
sphuraddigantasantatipramodamānamānase।
kṛpākaṭākṣadhoraṇīniruddhadurdharāpadi
kvaciddigambare mano vinodametu vastuni॥3॥
गिरिराजकिशोरी पार्वती के विलासकालोपयोगी शिरोभूषण से समस्त दिशाओं को प्रकाशित होते देख जिनका मन आनन्दित हो रहा है, जिनकी निरन्तर कृपादृष्टि से कठिन आपत्ति का भी निवारण हो जाता है, ऐसे किसी दिगम्बर तत्त्वमें मेरा मन विनोद करे॥ ३॥
May my mind seek happiness in Lord Shiva,In whose mind all the living beings of the glorious universe exist,Who is the companion of Parvati (daughter of the mountain king),Who controls unsurpassed adversity with his compassio-nate gaze, Which is all-pervading and who wears the Heavens as his raiment.
जटाभुजङ्गपिङ्गलस्फुरत्फणामणिप्रभा
कदम्बकुङ्कुमद्रवप्रलिप्तदिग्वधूमुखे।
मदान्धसिन्धुरस्फुरत्त्वगुत्तरीयमेदुरे
मनो विनोदमद्भुतं बिभर्तु भूतभर्तरि॥४॥
jaṭābhujaṅgapiṅgalasphuratphaṇāmaṇiprabhā
kadambakuṅkumadravapraliptadigvadhūmukhe।
madāndhasindhurasphurattvaguttarīyamedure
mano vinodamadbhutaṃ bibhartu bhūtabhartari॥4॥
जिनके जटाजूटवर्ती भुजंगमों के फणों की मणियों का फैलता हुआ पिंगल प्रभापुञ्ज दिशारूपिणी अंगनाओं के मुख पर कुंकुमराग का अनुलेप कर रहाहै, मतवाले हाथी के हिलते हुए चमड़े का उत्तरीय वस्त्र (चादर) धारण करने से स्निग्धवर्ण हुए उन भूतनाथ में मेरा चित्त अद्भुत विनोद करे॥४॥
May I find wonderful pleasure in Lord Shiva, who is the advocate of all life,With his creeping snake with its reddish brown hood and the shine of its gem on it spreading variegated colors on the beautiful faces of the Goddesses of the Directions,Which is covered by a shimmering shawl made from the skin of a huge, inebriated elephant.
सहस्रलोचनप्रभृत्यशेषलेखशेखर
प्रसूनधूलिधोरणीविधूसराङ्ग्रिपीठभूः।
भुजङ्गराजमालया निबद्धजाटजूटकः
श्रियै चिराय जायतां चकोरबन्धुशेखरः॥५॥
sahasralocanaprabhṛtyaśeṣalekhaśekhara
prasūnadhūlidhoraṇīvidhūsarāṅgripīṭhabhūḥ।
bhujaṅgarājamālayā nibaddhajāṭajūṭakaḥ
śriyai cirāya jāyatāṃ cakorabandhuśekharaḥ॥5॥
जिनकी चरणपादुकाएँ इन्द्र आदि समस्त देवताओं के [ प्रणाम करते समय ] मस्तकवर्ती कुसुमों की धूलि से धूसरित हो रही हैं; नागराज (शेष) के हारसे बँधी हुई जटावाले वे भगवान् चन्द्रशेखर मेरे लिये चिरस्थायिनी सम्पत्ति के साधक हों॥ ५॥
May Lord Shiva give us prosperity,Who has the Moon as a crown,Whose hair is bound by the red snake-garland,
Whose footrest is darkened by the flow of dust from flowers which fall from the heads of all the gods – Indra, Vishnu and others.
ललाटचत्वरज्वलद्धनञ्जयस्फुलिङ्गभा
निपीतपञ्चसायकं नमन्निलिम्पनायकम्।
सुधामयूखलेखया विराजमानशेखरं
महाकपालि सम्पदे शिरो जटालमस्तु नः॥६॥
lalāṭacatvarajvaladdhanañjayasphuliṅgabhā
nipītapañcasāyakaṃ namannilimpanāyakam।
sudhāmayūkhalekhayā virājamānaśekharaṃ
mahākapāli sampade śiro jaṭālamastu naḥ॥6॥
जिसने ललाट-वेदी पर प्रज्वलित हुई अग्नि के स्फुलिंगों के तेज से कामदेव को नष्ट कर डाला था, जिसे इन्द्र नमस्कार किया करते हैं, सुधाकर की कला से सुशोभित मुकुट वाला वह [श्रीमहादेवजी का] उन्नत विशाल ललाटवाला जटिल मस्तक हमारी सम्पत्ति का साधक हो॥६॥
May we obtain the riches of the Siddhis from the tangled strands Shiva’s hair,Who devoured the God of Love with the sparks of the fire that burns on his forehead,Which is revered by all the heavenly leaders,Which is beautiful with a crescent moon.
करालभालपट्टिकाधगद्धगद्धगज्ज्वल-
द्धनञ्जयाहुतीकृतप्रचण्डपञ्चसायके।
धराधरेन्द्रनन्दिनीकुचाग्रचित्रपत्रक
प्रकल्पनैकशिल्पिनि त्रिलोचने रतिर्मम॥७॥
karālabhālapaṭṭikādhagaddhagaddhagajjvala
ddhanañjayāhutīkṛtapracaṇḍapañcasāyake।
dharādharendranandinīkucāgracitrapatraka
prakalpanaikaśilpini trilocane ratirmama॥7॥
जिन्होंने अपने विकराल भालपट्ट पर धक्-धक् जलती हुई अग्नि में प्रचण्ड कामदेव को हवन कर दिया था, गिरिराजकिशोरी के स्तनों पर पत्रभंगरचना करने के एकमात्र कारीगर उन भगवान् त्रिलोचन में मेरी धारणा लगी रहे॥७॥

नवीनमेघमण्डलीनिरुद्धदुर्धरस्फुरत्
कुहनिशीथिनीतमः प्रबन्धबद्धकन्धरः।
निलिम्पनिर्झरीधरस्तनोतु कृत्तिसिन्धुरः
कलानिधानबन्धुरः श्रियं जगद्धुरन्धरः॥८॥
navīnameghamaṇḍalīniruddhadurdharasphurat
kuhaniśīthinītamaḥ prabandhabaddhakandharaḥ।
nilimpanirjharīdharastanotu kṛttisindhuraḥ
kalānidhānabandhuraḥ śriyaṃ jagaddhurandharaḥ॥8॥
जिनके कण्ठ में नवीन मेघमाला से घिरी हुई अमावस्या की आधी रात के समय फैलते हुए दुरूह अन्धकार के समान श्यामता अंकित है; जो गजचर्म लपेटे हुए हैं, वे संसारभार को धारण करने वाले चन्द्रमा के सम्पर्क) से मनोहर कान्तिवाले भगवान् गंगाधर मेरी सम्पत्ति का विस्तार करें॥ ८॥
May Lord Shiva give us prosperity,The one who bears the weight of this universe,Who is enchanting with the moon,
Who has the celestial river Ganga whose neck is dark as midnight on a new moon night, covered in layers of clouds.
प्रफुल्लनीलपङ्कजप्रपञ्चकालिमप्रभा
वलम्बिकण्ठकन्दलीरुचिप्रबद्धकन्धरम्।
स्मरच्छिदं पुरच्छिदं भवच्छिदं मखच्छिदं
गजच्छिदान्धकच्छिदं तमन्तकच्छिदं भजे॥९॥
praphullanīlapaṅkajaprapañcakālimaprabhā
valambikaṇṭhakandalīruciprabaddhakandharam।
smaracchidaṃ puracchidaṃ bhavacchidaṃ makhacchidaṃ
gajacchidāndhakacchidaṃ tamantakacchidaṃ bhaje॥9॥
जिनका कण्ठदेश खिले हुए नील कमलसमूह की श्याम प्रभा का अनुकरण करने वाली हरिणी की-सी छविवाले चिह्न से सुशोभित है तथा जो कामदेव, त्रिपुर, भव (संसार), दक्ष-यज्ञ, हाथी, अन्धकासुर और यमराज का भी उच्छेदन करने वाले हैं उन्हें मैं भजता हूँ॥९॥
I pray to Lord Shiva, whose neck is bound with the brightness of the temples hanging with the glory of fully bloomed blue lotus flowers,Which look like the blackness of the universe.Who is the slayer of Manmatha, who destroyed the Tripura,Who destroyed the bonds of worldly life, who destroyed the sacrifice,Who destroyed the demon Andhaka, who is the destroyer of the elephants,And who has overwhelmed the God of death, Yama.
अखर्वसर्वमङ्गलाकलाकदम्बमञ्जरी
रसप्रवाहमाधुरीविजृम्भणामधुव्रतम्।
स्मरान्तकं पुरान्तकं भवान्तकं मखान्तकं
गजान्तकान्धकान्तकं तमन्तकान्तकं भजे ॥१०॥
akharvasarvamaṅgalākalākadambamañjarī
rasapravāhamādhurīvijṛmbhaṇāmadhuvratam।
smarāntakaṃ purāntakaṃ bhavāntakaṃ makhāntakaṃ
gajāntakāndhakāntakaṃ tamantakāntakaṃ bhaje ॥10॥
जो अभिमानरहित पार्वती की कलारूप कदम्बमञ्जरी के मकरन्दस्रोत की बढ़ती हुई माधुरी के पान करने वाले मधुप हैं तथा कामदेव, त्रिपुर, भव, दक्ष-यज्ञ, हाथी, अन्धकासुर और यमराज का भी अन्त करने वाले हैं, उन्हें मैं भजता हूँ॥ १० ॥
I pray to Lord Siva, who has bees flying all around because of the sweet scent of honey coming from the beautiful bouquet of auspicious Kadamba flowers,Who is the slayer of Manmatha, who destroyed the Tripura,Who destroyed the bonds of worldly life, who destroyed the sacrifice,Who destroyed the demon Andhaka, who is the destroyer of the elephants,and who has overwhelmed the God of death, Yama.
जयत्वदभ्रविभ्रमभ्रमद्भुजङ्गमश्वस
द्विनिर्गमत्क्रमस्फुरत्करालभालहव्यवाट।
धिमिद्धिमिद्धिमिध्वनन्मृदङ्गतुङ्गमङ्गल
ध्वनिक्रमप्रवर्तितप्रचण्डताण्डवः शिवः॥११॥
jayatvadabhravibhramabhramadbhujaṅgamaśvasa
dvinirgamatkramasphuratkarālabhālahavyavāṭa।
dhimiddhimiddhimidhvananmṛdaṅgatuṅgamaṅgala
dhvanikramapravartitapracaṇḍatāṇḍavaḥ śivaḥ॥11॥
जिनके मस्तक पर बड़े वेग के साथ घूमते हुए भुजंग के फुफकारने से ललाट की भयंकर अग्नि क्रमशः धधकती हुई फैल रही है, धिमि-धिमि बजते हुए मृदंग के गम्भीर मंगल घोष के क्रमानुसार जिनका प्रचण्ड ताण्डव हो रहा है, उन भगवान् शंकर की जय हो॥ ११॥
Shiva, whose dance of Tandava is in tune with the series of loud sounds of drum making the sound “Dhimid Dhimid”,Who has fire on his great forehead, the fire that is spreading out because of the breath of the snake, wande-ring in whirling motions in the glorious sky.
दृषद्विचित्रतल्पयोर्भुजङ्गमौक्तिकस्रजो
गरिष्ठरत्नलोष्ठयोः सुहृद्विपक्षपक्षयोः।
तृणारविन्दचक्षुषोः प्रजामहीमहेन्द्रयोः
समप्रवृत्तिकः कदा सदाशिवं भजाम्यहम्॥१२॥
dṛṣadvicitratalpayorbhujaṅgamauktikasrajo
gariṣṭharatnaloṣṭhayoḥ suhṛdvipakṣapakṣayoḥ।
tṛṇāravindacakṣuṣoḥ prajāmahīmahendrayoḥ
samapravṛttikaḥ kadā sadāśivaṃ bhajāmyaham॥12॥
पत्थर और सुन्दर बिछौनों में, साँप और मुक्ता की माला में, बहुमूल्य रत्न तथा मिट्टी के ढेले में, मित्र या शत्रुपक्ष में, तृण अथवा कमललोचना तरुणी में, प्रजाऔर पृथ्वी के महाराज में समान भाव रखता हुआ मैं कब सदाशिव को भनूँगा॥ १२॥
When will I be able to worship Lord Sadashiva, the eternally auspicious God,With equanimous vision towards people or emperors,Towards a blade of grass and a lotus, towards friends and enemies,Towards the most precious gem and a lump of dirt,Toward a snake or a garland and towards the varied forms of the world?
कदा निलिम्पनिर्झरीनिकुञ्जकोटरे वसन्
विमुक्तदुर्मतिः सदा शिरःस्थमञ्जलिं वहन्।
विलोललोललोचनो ललामभाललग्नकः
शिवेति मन्त्रमुच्चरन् कदा सुखी भवाम्यहम्॥१३॥
kadā nilimpanirjharīnikuñjakoṭare vasan
vimuktadurmatiḥ sadā śiraḥsthamañjaliṃ vahan।
vilolalolalocano lalāmabhālalagnakaḥ
śiveti mantramuccaran kadā sukhī bhavāmyaham॥13॥
सुन्दर ललाटवाले भगवान् चन्द्रशेखर में दत्तचित्त हो अपने कुविचारों को त्यागकर गंगाजी के तटवर्ती निकुंज के भीतर रहता हुआ सिरपर हाथ जोड़ डबडबायी हुई विह्वल आँखों से ‘शिव’ मन्त्र का उच्चारण करता हुआ मैं कब सुखी होऊँगा? ॥ १३॥
When I can be happy, living in a cave near the celestial river Ganga,Bringing my hands clasped on my head all the time,With my impure thoughts washed away, uttering the mantra of Shiva,Devoted to the God with a glorious forehead and with vibrant eyes?
इमं हि नित्यमेवमुक्तमुत्तमोत्तमं स्तवं
पठन्स्मरन्ब्रुवन्नरो विशुद्धिमेति सन्ततम्।
हरे गुरौ सुभक्तिमाशु याति नान्यथा गतिं
विमोहनं हि देहिनां सुशङ्करस्य चिन्तनम्॥१४॥
imaṃ hi nityamevamuktamuttamottamaṃ stavaṃ
paṭhansmaranbruvannaro viśuddhimeti santatam।
hare gurau subhaktimāśu yāti nānyathā gatiṃ
vimohanaṃ hi dehināṃ suśaṅkarasya cintanam॥14॥
जो मनुष्य इस प्रकार से उक्त इस उत्तमोत्तम स्तोत्र का नित्य पाठ, स्मरण और वर्णन करता रहता है, वह सदा शुद्ध रहता है और शीघ्र ही सुरगुरु श्रीशंकरजी की अच्छी भक्ति प्राप्त कर लेता है, वहविरुद्धगति को नहीं प्राप्त होता; क्योंकि श्रीशिवजी का अच्छी प्रकार का चिन्तन प्राणिवर्ग के मोह का नाश करने वाला है॥ १४॥
Anyone who reads, remembers and recites this stotra as stated here is purified forever and obtains devotion in the great Guru Shiva.For this devotion, there is no other way or refuge.Just the mere thought of Shiva removes the delusion.
पूजावसानसमये दशवक्त्रगीतं
यः शम्भुपूजनपरं पठति प्रदोषे।
तस्य स्थिरां रथगजेन्द्रतुरङ्गयुक्तां
लक्ष्मी सदैव सुमुखीं प्रददाति शम्भुः॥१५॥
pūjāvasānasamaye daśavaktragītaṃ
yaḥ śambhupūjanaparaṃ paṭhati pradoṣe।
tasya sthirāṃ rathagajendraturaṅgayuktāṃ
lakṣmī sadaiva sumukhīṃ pradadāti śambhuḥ॥15॥
सायंकाल में पूजा समाप्त होने पर रावण के गाये हुए इस शम्भुपूजनसम्बन्धी स्तोत्र का जो पाठ करता है, भगवान् शंकर उस मनुष्य को रथ, हाथी, घोड़ों से युक्त सदा स्थिर रहने वाली अनुकूल सम्पत्ति देते हैं। १५॥
At the time of prayer-completion, that who reads this song by Dasavaktra (Ravana) after the prayer of Sambhu — Sambhu gives him stable wealth including chariots, elephants and horses, and beautiful face.
